Wine Weekends in Brittany

A long weekend break is what we all need at times. What better way to spend the weekend than in a beautiful old farmhouse in the French countryside sampling different wines and eating good food?

Arrive on the friday by boat or plane and travel an hour south from the northern coast of Brittany. A warm welcome awaits with food and drinks as appropriate. Later, enjoy a wonderful home cooked 3/4 course meal!

Travel back on the Sunday or the monday to your ferry or plane stopping off at Dinan, St Malo or St Michael Mount on the way maybe. The weekend is all about relaxation and here is an e-mail from a recent visitor:

"We're just back from our long weekend in France. I just wanted to let you know that we had a great time, and would certainly recommend it to our friends. It was great being so secluded, and Josselin was such a lovely town to explore.

Carol was the perfect hostess, and the home cooked food and wine was lovely. It was really nice to be somewhere where the emphasis was on chilling out and relaxing. We all agreed that it was her extra touches that made our weekend so much fun!"
Alex from Manchester, September 2004.

What does a typical weekend break consist of?

You leave Portsmouth/Poole/Weymouth on the Thursday night or Friday morning to arrive at either St. Malo or Caen, alternatively you can fly into Dinard airport from either Luton or Stanstead airport (we can arrange to meet you there) and travel one hour south to the Old Farmhouse. Arrive for a cooked or continental breakfast with teas, coffee and fresh orange juice before settling into your room.

On Friday evening enjoy a 3 course meal with drinks included for you to sample some good wines and local beers and relax in the 40' lounge bar/dining area.

Saturday morning after breakfast we will take you into the Medieval town of Josselin where you can experience an authentic "French market" after which you can enjoy lunch at one of the bustling street cafes, or if you really want to make your day special, visit the wonderful restaurant by the river overlooking the Chateau. After lunch Carol will meet you in Josselin and take you to a "cave" which is a specialised wine merchant, here you can sample and purchase some local wines and have any of your questions answered by the specialist on hand.

On Saturday evening return to the Farmhouse to freshen up and sample some more good food and wine.

St. Malo harbour

Sunday morning after breakfast you start your journey back. You could stop off at Dinan on your way through to St. Malo or St. Michaels Mount if leaving from Caen to have a look around some of the many shops or places of interest before boarding your boat for the trip home.

The Wine weekend at the Farmhouse inclusive of food and drinks is £125 per person (min 2 people sharing a room) for a two night stay and £175 per person (min 2 people sharing a room) for a three night stay (travel not included).

Prices may vary at certain times of year and is subject to availability. Costs for the weekend depend on the time of year for travel and which route you take.
